Roto's Magic Act

Happy Halloween!

In honor of Halloween, the Roto’s Magic Act website launches today, and here is the first song from the new album “Into The Unknown” called “Howling at the Moon.” It is an homage to the inner lives of werewolves and includes musicians who have played with Tom Waits, Tori Amos, and David Garza.

Oh, and a howling wolf. . . . You can hear it, howl and all, below.

My new album, “Into the Unknown,” was produced by Bryce Goggin (Spacehog, Joseph Arthur) and it’s a 14-song “continuous sound” concept album inspired by the likes of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” and Beck’s “Mutations”; it’s a blend of power-pop, alt-country and art-rock . . . and tarot cards. We’re anticipating a Spring release for the full album, but will be releasing songs and videos from it—and select cover tunes—over the next few months.

The album is a trip, literally, through circus scenes, desert landscapes, southern bayous, exotic locales, and Brooklyn streets, all tied together by a collective of amazing musicians, including Shawn Pelton (SNL, Sheryl Crow), Matt Chamberlain (David Bowie), Julia Kent (Antony & the Johnsons), and a core band that includes NYC aces like Mike Chiavaro (Regina Spektor), Paul Amorese (Goodbye Motel), John Deley (Dido) and Dave Sherman (Robbers on High Street).

Have a sinister but safe Hallows Eve, and come out and see us on November 14th—it’s going to be quite a spectacle. I know—it’s in the cards. . .
